ELECTRIC RC RACING
At the club we race standard, stock or 19 turn motors. We race in a old converted barn,so if the weather is bad,we can stil race because we are enclosed from the weather.The race heats are split over three heats per week and are five minutes long.No reverse is allowed during racing.
NITRO RC RACING
Nitro cars are split into on and off-road races if possible, if there are only a few of each then they may be put together. Drivers will race three heats per week which are four minutes long. Nitro heats do reqiure to have a failsafe fitted to their cars to prevent unavoidable damage accurring due to interfearance.
POINTS
Laps are added up through the month and divided by the amount of times you attended in that period. Points are awarded to the top six drivers in each class and are added to the league tables. The following point system is used for all classes.Laps are counted and collected by the transponder system.
1st = 100pts
2nd = 99pts
3rd = 98pts
4th = 97pts
5th = 96pts
6th = 95pts
LEAGUES
Racer's are split into 19 turn spec, Stock and Standard motor classes plus Nitro Touring and Buggy classes.
CRYSTALS
To be able to control your car you need both a transmitter (your controller) and a receiver (the box in your car with the aerial sticking out of it). Both of these have a crystal in them which must match and be different from all the other drivers in your race to be able for you to controller your car correctly. If you have the same crystal as another driver they can easily be removed and swapped to another set. Please try to bring at least two sets of different crystals to every race meeting.
FREQUENCIES
There are three bands used for RC car racing 27MHz and 40MHz and Spectrum.Each of the bands are split so you can race lots of cars together. The crystal you have in your transmitter and receiver determines what part of that band you are using. Your radio gear will only work with one so before you buy new crystals check which of the two you are using. Below is a list of the deferent crystals and frequencies.Spectrum does not use crystals so there is less likely clash of frequencies.

CLUB HISTORY W.D.R.C.R.C.C
Based on Dorset's South Coast the club was originally established on the outskirts of Weymouth in a small village hall. The founder of the club Peter Judd had previously been a member of other clubs around the country. After moving to Dorset his enthusiasm for racing continued but found there were no clubs formed which he could join. Using his initiative he advertised and encouraged other local people to form a club. September 14th 2001 under the name of "Weymouth and District Radio Controlled Racing Car Club" (W.D.R.C.R.C.C) the hall was rented and informal weekly meetings started for people to share their interest and love of racing. Gradually enthusiasm spread with regular members attending and more formal arrangements developed.
WEYMOUTH RC
On hearing the founder was leaving the area the members had to act quickly to stop the club folding. This became our turning point, as no individual wanted to take on full responsibility a committee was formed to share the role. Key people were selected for Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Media Secretary and structured meetings provided the opportunity to share new ideas and developments. The club decided on a new name which was much shorter and easier to remember (WeymouthRC), and setup this website. Carpet to race on was also purchased and we improved the barrier's from cardboard tubing to sand filled firehose. As they is no accessible funding or sponsorship, club members pay a membership and a weekly subscription to allow the committee to continue improvments and pay for the venue to race. In February 2003 the club joined the BRCA which provides added protection of insurance cover which will allow us to attend, participate and organise events. 9th of May 2003 we moved to a larger venue at Westhaven Junior School, Weymouth, where we could also expand to nitro racing with both on and offroad cars.June 2004 we moved to our present venue at West Fossil Farm, Owermoigne,from which the club has continued to grow.
